What is the weirdest job youʼve ever held?
I was a kettleman at bagel bakery before I was a baker at that same bakery. A kettlemanʼs job is to pull raw bagels from a refrigerator and boil them in a large kettle just until they float, then scoop them out into a trough for the baker to put into the oven.
What is your favorite all-time game?
The game that I have played and enjoyed the most would have to be Pokemon, specifically, Pokemon Gold/Silver.
What games are you playing right now?
None right now although Iʼve fooling around with Korg DS-10. Iʼm greatly looking forward to checking out Runner2.
What motivated you to begin working in the game industry?
Iʼm here quite by accident. Iʼve always loved games but never gave any serious consideration to working in the industry. When I got word that there was a video game studio in Pittsburgh looking for tech people, I went for it.
What inspires you?
Iʼm most inspired by the idea of my work touching lives. Itʼs amazing to think that a kid somewhere is enjoying something Iʼve made and will someday go on to make something that someone else will enjoy. It is in this way that we weave ourselves into the fabric of the universe.
What is your proudest achievement?
Cliche or not, I have to say it. I have three amazing daughters who regularly dazzle me with their awesomeness. When they grow up Iʼm sure they will dazzle the world.
What piques your curiosity?
Everything does! The world is wonderful, scary, strange, and mysterious place. We really have no idea how any of it works yet.
What is your hidden talent?
I can sleep anywhere and through anything, and yet I only require 4-5 hours of sleep per day.
What is the best thing about working at Schell Games?
Itʼs hard to choose between the opportunity to work on such awesome projects and getting to work with such an amazing team, but I think itʼs really the people. Itʼs a really great group of talented creative people weʼve got here.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I canʼt go 24 hours without playing a Ukulele.
