What's the best thing about working at Schell Games?
Working with amazing people who really do their best to bring their best every day!
What motivated you to begin working in the game industry?
I started getting into video games more seriously in high school. I remember my nights and weekends being filled with Kingdom Hearts 2. There was a moment where I was trying to defeat Sephiroth for the 10th, 15th, 20th time and was wondering why I wasn't giving up. That moment was magical for me and I wanted to make more magic-filled moments for other people!
What’s the best piece of advice you received?
To slow down and be more mindful of where I am in the present.
What was your favorite game as a child?
I loved the Diner Dash series and all the other related flash games to the Diner Dash universe.
If you could instantly become an expert in anything, what would it be?
Programming! I believe understanding and knowing how to program opens a lot of doors.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh?
Oh boy, it would probably be a three-way tie between eating at Gaucho Parrilla, going to the Phipps Conservatory, or visiting Wild Card. I should stop thinking about this question before I list more things.
What are you most proud of working on while at Schell Games?
My proudest moments at Schell Games are the times when the team rallies behind a cool feature we knew would serve the experience or game we're making well that wasn't initially considered to be a requirement. My heart feels full when I reflect and can name multiple times where this happened.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Teleportation. I have friends and family scattered throughout the US and in other countries. It would be great if I didn't have to sit in a plane for hours to see them.
What was the weirdest job you ever had?
I did a small gig face-painting at an event for a gardening store. It was only weird because I was painting faces of kids that were close to my age.
What beverage do you always have on hand at work? Coffee, tea, or other?
Coffee! I love the taste of well-brewed craft coffee. My go-to beans are from Trader Joe's but I like to treat myself to La Prima sometimes.
