PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (February 24, 2014) – Schell Games, the largest independent video game studio in Pennsylvania, announces the launch of its newest game, Enemy Mind, on Steam Greenlight. The company will now go through the Greenlight process with the intention of getting the game on the Steam platform, where it can be purchased and played by Steam’s more than 65 million registered users.
Enemy Mind is a retro-style, side-scrolling space shooter game with a unique twist. In this game, the player isn’t limited to playing as one ship; instead, the player can jump from ship to ship in order to make maximum use of spaceships in play. The game is designed to be played on a PC with the use of a controller, and can accommodate up to four players at a time.
Enemy Mind was originally created during the company’s Jam Week in September 2013 by Mike Traficante, senior engineer at Schell Games. After Jam Week, the game was thoroughly researched by an internal New Games Team, who determined it to be worthy of further development. A small team has been working on the game diligently for the past several months. A fully playable version will be ready in March 2014.
“I started making this game during Jam Week and fell completely in love with it,” Traficante said. “I imagined I’d spend the next several years working on it in my basement, because I couldn’t just walk away from it. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to make it professionally, with such a talented small team. We’ve had almost complete autonomy within the studio, and the game has turned out far better than what I had imagined.”
The company plans to debut this game to other developers at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, being held from March 19 to 21, 2014. The game will be available to play at Booth #PL 207 in the GDC Play area of the Moscone North exhibit hall.
