What's the best thing about working at Schell Games?
The best thing about working at Schell Games is the instant 100+ friends you make as soon as you walk through the door. It’s a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere where you are encouraged to be YOU. Everyone takes care of each other without a second thought.
What motivated you to begin working in the game industry?
Games have always been such a big part of my life. I’ve always loved to collect art books and soundtracks from all of my favorite games. If I wasn’t playing them, I was reading about the developers/artists and how they were inspired to create these masterpieces. I always loved listening to the sound tests for my favorite games and just letting them play in a loop for hours! Specifically, I remember being WILDLY impressed by the error message you hear if you try to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in a cd player. It felt like a hidden note to the fans, I loved it and wanted to know more!
What’s the best piece of advice you received?
Don’t stand in the fire.
What was your favorite game as a child?
This is a tough question. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Banjo-Kazooie, Chiki Chiki Boys, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, Mario Kart 64, Sonic Spinball. I also have fond memories of Maze Hunter 3D for some reason.
If you could instantly become an expert in anything, what would it be?
Either watercolor or volcanoes. Watercolor is TOUGH and volcanoes are TERRIFYING.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh?
I’m always looking for new coffee shops and taprooms to try! I also love to make and wear costumes for various events.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would like the ability to heal anything. Illness, mental pain, fear... poof! GONE.
What was the weirdest job you ever had?
Hmm, not really weird, but while I was in high school I worked for KB Toys. I basically spent every paycheck on action figures.
What beverage do you always have on hand at work? Coffee, tea, or other?
I love coffee! Especially cold brew, but I keep a mean collection of tea at my desk as well. Tea makes everything better!
