Today, Innersloth, Schell Games, and Robot Teddy shared new features coming to Among Us VR. The feature detail trailer debuted as a part of UploadVR’s Summer Showcase during IGN Summer of Gaming, an event full of game announcements, gameplay reveals, and trailers held throughout the month of June. Among Us VR will launch during the 2022 holiday season, and players can now join the Among Us VR Discord server.
Developed from the ground up as a stand-alone experience, Among Us VR provides players with immersive, 360° gameplay full of the beloved features and mechanics found in the original award-winning Among Us. Amidst teamwork and betrayal, crewmates must complete tasks as they wander the Skeld II and keep an eye (or ear) out for the Impostor. At launch, the VR version of the award-winning multiplayer game will include:
- The Skeld II Map
- A selection of hats to customize Crewmates
- Core Among Us gameplay systems translated to VR, such as tasks, sabotages, emergency meetings, and venting
- Proximity voice chat and Quickchat
- Single and two-handed locomotion modes along with locomotion comfort options
- Localization in eight languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (LATAM), Chinese (traditional and simplified), Japanese, and Korean
- Achievements
"We’ve enjoyed working with Schell Games to recreate Among Us for virtual reality platforms," said Victoria Tran, Community Director for Innersloth. “Whether it’s the ability for Crewmates to high-five each other in-game to interacting with tasks around the Skeld, Among Us VR builds upon the features in the original game in all the right ways. We can't wait for the community to experience it!"
Innersloth, developers of the award-winning party game Among Us, saw their space-based, sleuthing multiplayer game quickly rise to prominence as friends, families, and communities came together to repair ships and avoid the devious antics of Impostors. In 2020, Innersloth tapped video game consultants Robot Teddy to help bring the game to additional platforms and manage other facets of the business. Schell Games is working with both companies to bring Among Us to virtual reality platforms where players can fully immerse themselves in the universe Innersloth created.
"Working with Innersloth and Robot Teddy to bring Among Us to virtual reality platforms has been an incredible experience," said CEO Jesse Schell. "Creating a game from scratch within the existing structure of the Among Us universe led to many creative solutions throughout the development process. We are grateful our partners are willing to entertain new ideas and tweak existing concepts to fine-tune the game for VR platforms."
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the way our teams have come together to create a brand new experience for the Among Us community,” said Ranjani Natarajan, Director of Robot Teddy. “We’re recognizing an increasing demand for social, multiplayer games, and we are excited to contribute to the growth of the VR Industry with Among Us VR.”
Players can now wishlist Among Us VR on the Meta Quest coming soon page and on Steam. Visit the Among Us VR website, join the Discord server, follow the game on Twitter, or view the press kit for more information.
