On Monday, March 4, 2013, Jesse Schell will speak at the 2013 CFO Rising East Conference. The event runs from March 3 to March 6, 2013, and takes place at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Florida. In his talk “The Pleasure Revolution: What Gamification Means for Your Business” Schell will discuss the different ways “gamification” can be used to reinterpret and improve business processes. Gamification is defined as the application of game mechanics in a non-game context in order to engage users and solve problems.
Jesse Schell is the CEO of Schell Games, a leader in transformational games and the largest video game studio in Pennsylvania. He also serves as Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University. Jesse has worked on a wide variety of innovative game and simulation projects for both entertainment and education, and is lauded for his award-winning book The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses. He is a former chair of the International Game Developers Association, and in 2004 he was named one of the world’s Top 100 Young Innovators by MIT Technology Review. Before starting his own company, Jesse was the Creative Director of the Walt Disney Imagineering Virtual Reality Studio. Early in his career, he worked as writer, director, performer, juggler, comedian, and circus artist for both Freihofer’s Mime Circus and the Juggler’s Guild.
